The Crab · Karka Rashi
Cancer
Cancer is ruled by the Moon and is closely linked with home, family and the feelings we carry from our past into the present.
Traditional traits
Traditional descriptions of Cancer emphasise nurturing, loyalty and emotional sensitivity. Like the crab, the sign is said to protect a soft interior with a careful outer shell.

Room to grow
Sensitivity can lead to moodiness or holding on to old hurts. Astrological tradition encourages Cancer to express needs openly rather than withdrawing.
Cancer in Vedic astrology
Karka is ruled by Chandra, and Guru (Jupiter) is considered exalted here. The Sun’s entry into Karka begins Dakshinayana, the Sun’s southward half-year in traditional reckoning.
Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) are traditionally linked with emotion, intuition and empathy. Cardinal signs begin each season and are associated with initiative.
These are traditional associations shared by everyone born under the sign — not a personal reading. Your full chart, including your Moon sign and ascendant, says far more. Disclaimer.
